In the road that we are trudging, we need friends to cling on. Friends are said to be always there whenever we need comfort, love and they alwyas encourage us to pursue on the things that make us feel discouraged. That is why we nees to treasure our close friends. They are the kind whom you can sit on the porch and swing with, never say a word and then walked away feeling like it was the best conversation you have ever had. One thing that counts to keep good relationship is be an active listener as well and you need to watch also your non-verbal. In a relationship, it is not that we are the only ones to do the talking but we also have to listen to our friends especially if they have heartaches. Never understimate the power of your non-verbal to cultivate relationships because a simple look, gesture, or touch can speak volumes.
What can you do when good , meaningful friendships start to unravel? How do you mend the fabric of torn friends? Is it possible to remain friends through hurts and anger? When a friend offends you, follow this ancient wisdom of scripture: " Argue your case with your neighbor directly, and do not disclose another's secret" (Proverb 29:9 NRSB). The most effective thing to do to save friendship is by giving your problem to God. You need to remind yourself how much friendship means and try to understand your friends' motives. It takes two to bring healing anyway, so you need to pray together.
Every other relationship-building can be wrapped up in this one. When you can do to others what ypu would want them to do to you if you were in their place, you will be doing the best you can to assure yourself of relationships that power to keep you well.
Good Friendships require work. They do not just happen. A solid friendship takes time, persistence and kindness. But its worth the effort.
